I went to this place back in the 80s. It was a great place to stay. I hope it is not now closed. In the 80s I was a young kid when I had first stayed there. Now I am a trucker and I have been looking for the location of this place for awhile. I drove past it today and my heart jumped for joy but then I realized it looks like it's closed with furniture outside of the rooms. I remember eating fresh made french frys there the best I ever had in my life. A nice black lady waited on me she was a sweetheart. There were hundreds of semis parked there staying for the night. My brother and I went out to look at the trucks. One guy let us sit inside his brand new 1984 kw. It was blue. I never forgot the experience. It's funny because both my brother and I now drive semis for a living. I was sad to discover it closed. It's been always my wish to come back and visit this place and eat fresh french frys. There is no one else in my family that drives semis for a living. Me and my brother are the first. The steven kent inn and restaurant must have had an impact on our lives. Who would have thought 2 kidds with 5 yrs apart would then end up driving trucks. Back in the 80s it was a major spot for the truckers to get out of the truck relax and kick up their heels..I remember there being a lounge with live music and that is where dad went to enjoy a little time away from me and my brother. So my brother and I went out looking at all the big rigs. I hope this place is under reconstruction and not closed forever. I am 5 miles away parked at the pilot down here near food lion where I am delivering tommorrow on the 460. The pilot will never measure up to the steven kent inn and restaurant. I will visit this place after I deliver to take pictures just in case they r closing. At least I will have childhood memories rekindled. Missing and loving the steven kent inn and restaurant.
